Larry Elmore

Larry Elmore is a legend in the fantasy and gaming world, best known as an artist for Dungeons & Dragons, Dragonlance, Star Frontiers, and the comic strip series SnarfQuest. Larry’s illustrious career includes illustrations for video games, comics, magazines, and fantasy books. Larry illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game, provided cover art for the MMORPG EverQuest, and art for the Traveller RPG. He is author of the book Reflections of Myth, and co-author of Runes of Autumn.

Elmore joined the staff of TSR, Inc., the producers of Dungeons & Dragons, as its first professional illustrator, in November 1981, and created art work for adventure modules, game books, and novels, as well as paintings for posters and calendars. Elmore created the SnarfQuest comic which appeared in Dragon. Elmore provided the concept artwork for Dragonlance which was used to promote Dragonlance to the upper levels of management at TSR.

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman used Elmore’s fantasy world, Loerem, in their Sovereign Stone trilogy, and Elmore provided the artwork for the Sovereign Stone Game System. In the early 2000s, Elmore drew Snarfquest comics for the magazine Games Unplugged.

Larry Elmore’s other credits include work for FASA, Mayfair Games, Game Designer’s Workshop, White Wolf, Iron Crown Enterprises, Amazing Magazine, Wizard Press, D. C. Comics, First Comics, Eclipse Comics and Frank Frazetta’s Fantasy Illustrated.
