J. David Spurlock is an award winning author, illustrator, agent, educator, advocate for artists’ rights, and associate to star talents Frank Frazetta, Neal Adams, Jim Steranko, Joe Kubert, Carmine Infantino, Wally Wood and more. Spurlock's recent guest speaking engagements include: The PBS Superheroes! Documentary Preview panel at NYCC 2011; Auteur Theory of Comics panel, NYCC 2011; interviewing Stan Lee in 2010, and again in 2011, for Dragon Con TV and a live audience if 4,600; The Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine re-launch and convention in Indianapolis; the May 2010 LA Rockin' Comic-Con with Stan Lee; the Sept. 2010 Art of Neal Adams book premiere; the Frank Frazetta tribute event at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con, and again in 2011; 2010 Rutgers School of Law guest lecturer; Feb. 2011, Collected Comics Library podcast; University of the Arts in Philadelphia (Oct. 16, 2009); Canada's Where Monsters Dwell radio show; and Spurlock served as Guest Curator of the 2010 Steranko exhibit at the Geppi Entertainment Museum (GEM) in Baltimore.

Spurlock's film/TV credits include: Frazetta Painting With Fire; STARZ network's Comicbooks Unbound; Free@Last TV's 2005 documentary, The Batman Story, for BBC Five; directing BBC-star Jonathan Ross in his recent interview of Jim Steranko; and serving as a consultant to Morgan Spurlock on the documentary Comic Con Episode Four: A Fan's Hope and working on the Superheroes! documentary series for PBS. Spurlock's latest book, How to Draw Chiller Monsters, Werewolves, Vampires & Zombies was released by Random House imprint Watson-Guptill on September 13, 2011. As of the second week of October, Bookspan reported it as the #19 best-selling art book in America.
